Nestled along the lively stretch of Newark Avenue, this spot draws in those looking for authentic Indian flavors, with its biryanis often taking center stage. Whether you’re settling in for a casual lunch or a relaxed dinner, the atmosphere hums with a steady flow of regulars, groups, and solo diners alike. The space strikes a balance between cozy and bustling, making it welcoming to families, university students, and visitors exploring the neighborhood.
The menu leans heavily into aromatic biryanis — from chicken and goat to variations inspired by Hyderabadi and regional styles — often accompanied by cooling raita and rich gravies. Guests appreciate the nuanced spices and textures, which offer a taste experience that feels both familiar and distinct from typical South Indian dishes. Alongside the biryanis, there are comforting small plates, noodles, and lighter vegetarian and vegan options, providing something for a range of tastes and dietary preferences.
Practical considerations like wheelchair-accessible seating and parking options make it approachable for many, while the combination of dine-in, takeaway, and no-contact delivery fits the pace of the local crowd. The service tends to be friendly and attentive, complementing the casual, unpretentious vibe of the place. Those who enjoy a steady, lively environment with straightforward, flavorful Indian fare will likely find it a dependable choice in the heart of this vibrant neighborhood.

"Excellent food, service and quality and quantity of food for the price."
"Having ordered for Rice and Chicken (gravy), I was given Rice and Chicken fry."
"Yummy and spicy Indian best Indian restaurant in north jersey"
5 Awesome food... We ordered egg biryani, house special chicken curry, garlic naan, chicken biryani. The biryanis are damn tasty and the curry was mouth watering. I know some people are not great fan of South Indian food, the house special chicken curry is kinda south indian style and I loved it. I would suggest this place to all the biryani lovers.
4 Food is excellent. Known for biryanis. There is natu kodi chicken Biriyani which is not dum biryani yet tastes good. Double ka metha dessert tastes good too though not authentic style. Ambience is okay. Restrooms need more attention. Management/servers are friendly. This is like a super busy restaurant. Fast going. It is located on a busy Indian street called Newark avenue where the street has all the Indian stores.
5 After reading the old reviews I was scared to go in but turned out to have a great experience ordered couple of starters and biriyanis everyone enjoyed it If you want to eat something Hyderabad style this is a go to place and the waiters were so friendly and polite
4 If you’re looking for an authentic Indian cuisine experience then I’d totally recommend this place especially if you’re into biryani. Their Chicken Dum Biryani is just amazing and the flavours remind me the taste of Hyderabadi biryani so if you’re a biryani lover definitely try their chicken dum biryani without failure. Their Vegetarian dishes is just as delicious .
5 Absolutely loved my experience at Biryani Pot! The food was incredibly flavorful — especially the biryani, which was rich, aromatic, and perfectly spiced. The service was prompt and the staff was very courteous and friendly. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot to enjoy a relaxed meal with friends or family. Definitely coming back again soon! Highly recommend it if you’re craving authentic Indian flavors.
4 There were many restaurants in jersey city indian street but most of them are falling apart in keeping up with the tastes. Biryani pot was one restaurants which is still standing out and tastes amazing for biryanis. Try it out. I got the vegetable biryani picked up but they missed giving raitha and salan which is very disappointing and hence 1 ⭐ less.
5 Biriyani Pot never disappoints! I especially enjoyed the Vijayawada boneless chicken biriyani and the boneless special biriyani—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and truly delicious. The staff was extremely kind and friendly, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place for biriyani lovers!
4 They have good biryani or classic fried rice , however their crispy chicken lacks a bit of spicy and is rather Sweety. Maybe it is the time when we had the food here. Also the ac was broken so we had to bear with the heat and eat the food. Overall it was decent for you to try another place to eat. Menu has limited options so not much to give a thought to. It is usually busy
The biryanis, especially the Chicken Dum Biryani and house special chicken curry, are highly recommended and loved by many visitors.
It works well for both quick bites and relaxed meals, with friendly table service and a cozy, casual atmosphere.
The restaurant is often busy, so visiting during off-peak hours or making a reservation can help ensure a smoother experience.
